In Lieu of Flowers

While there are other options of expressing sympathy such as charitable contributions, there is no substitute for flowers and the important role they play in the funeral process. Flowers not only warm a funeral or memorial service setting but they also have a positive impact on the emotional well being of the bereaved. Flowers can have profound positive effects on our emotions-they are the visual outpouring of love, sympathy and respect. They help up express our support and grief and promote feelings of compassion and happiness. People tend to feel less depressed anxious around flowers.

Sometimes families include a phrase in the obituary that seems to discourage the expression of sympathy through flowers. The phrase "In Lieu of Flowers" is not normally meant to restrict friends and loved ones from sending flowers if they wish, rather it gives other welcomed options of expression. While a monetary donation is a worthy tribute, there is really no substitute for beautiful flowers at a sympathy service. They comfort the living as they commemorate the lives of the deceased.

When making the decision to send flowers or a charitable contribution on lieu of, consider sending both. Abbott Florist has a broad range of arrangements that can accomodate every budget and express the sincerest form of sympathy to the greiving. We work closely with area funeral homes in the Turnersville, Sewell and Washington Twp area and would be honored to help you in a difficult time.

Sympathy Flowers - A Bright Environment at a Somber Time

Studies have shown after family, friends, and eulogy, flowers rank first among those who have lost a family member or friend as the most meaningful aspect of funerals.
Furthermore, at a time of loss, recipients rank flowers and sympathy cards as the most meaningful of gifts. Those surveyed believe flowers and plants are a critical component of funerals, providing a necessary diversion, something to talk about, and a bright environment at a somber time.
Flowers show respect for the deceased, as well as loving support of family and friends, especially when you cannot be there in person. Flowers also make for a more pleasant atmosphere, helping those present feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. With flowers at a service, you help create a lasting and beautiful memory for those who have gathered to mourn the loss of someone dear.
There is a wide variety of floral tributes for every budget. Among them: bud vases; table arrangements; standing arrangements; sprays; casket drapes; wreaths; planters; and other designs which reflect a more personal aspect of the deceased, such as favored flowers, colors, and styles.
Abbott Florist offers a wide variety of sympathy arrangements for any budget. Visit our website for current options or give us a call 856-728-3939 if you are interested in something more personalized.

Who is the Real Abbott Florist???

We have spent sometime now trying to set ourselves apart from the evil order gathering companies. Unfortunately for us, when we first decided to take on this battle we didn't realize what we were in for.
We decided that instead of trying to expand our business out to more area clientele that we would concentrate on making sure our current clients were able to find us on the internet, since that is where we all start these days!
When we first started Googling ourselves we discovered there is a company out there posing as Abbott Florist-named appropriately enough Abbotts Florist. They go so far as to pay for top ad placement on Google with information such as being located in Turnersville (which they are not), or "We Are the Real Abbott", or "Real Florists". We often times get calls and complaints from our area customers about services rendered from this site. Yet low and behold that isn't us. As a matter of fact the company that poses as us is part of huge order gathering company called Kay's Florist. You can read a rather interesting article about them here. Beware! This company is linked to blossomflorists.com, kaysflorist.com, galleryflorist.com, jodysflowersandgifts.com, abbottsfloristandgifts.com, abbottsflorist.com, floristdeliverytoday.com, floristdeliveryusa.com, sendingofflowers.com, online4florist.com. This company is spending big money in deceit and their target is you! We have been spending some extra money to make sure you get to us to receive the best possible service you deserve. We love what we do and it shows in the products we offer.
We hope you find the article above enlightening and help keep local business local. Thank you so much for your continual support.

It's Spring Time and that means it is Wedding Season!

In the spirit of the wedding season, we thought we would do an informational post for the Brides to be. We often get questions about the symbolic meanings of wedding flowers. So in an effort to further your wedding flower knowledge we decided to blog about some popular floral selections. We start with the Calla Lily but we will be adding more!

The Calla Lily is a wedding favorite because symbolically it means magnificent beauty! The Calla Lilie's name came from the Greek word Kallos that means beauty. They are one of the most gentle and delicate flowers in appearance. The flower has been associated for elegance and charm for generations. Adding Calla Lilies to the wedding, you create an incomparable elegance, sophistication, and charm to the wedding. They come in a variety of colors including classic white, yellow, orange, red and purple.

The Calla Lily first became popular in the United States after the movie Stage Door was released that starred Katherine Hepburn. "The Calla Lilies are in bloom again. Such a strange flower—suitable to any occasion. I carried them on my wedding day, and now I place them here in memory of something that has died."

If you have a wedding coming up and are interested in adding classic Callas to your wedding arrangements stop in and see us. We would be happy to go over some suggested bouquets and color combinations that will make your special day perfect!

Our favorite part about being a florist...

One of our favorite parts about being a florist is helping brides make their special day perfect. We truly enjoy working one on one with brides to be, especially when we get to be extra creative and do out of the ordinary arrangements with tropical flowers.

This arrangement definately falls within the realms of non-traditional and it looks absolutely stunning! In an up close view of this bouquet you can see the Yellow Calla Lillies, Red and Pink toned Roses, Orchids, Red Anthuriums, Iris, Lisianthus and greens.

If you are looking for something traditional or non traditional let Abbott Florist make your Wedding arrangements.

Thanks to Images Photography Studio in Williamstown, NJ for providing us with these awesome photos from the Reid wedding.

Valentine's Day 2009

Valentine's Day already?? No not really, but as a florist we have to start preparing today! And now that Abbott Florist is the only floral shop in all of Washington Twp, NJ which includes Sewell and Turnersville we are certain to have a busy February.

We have also created a new way to get to our website, there seems to be some confusion with our customers and a not so local floral shop in Illinois that shares a similar name with ours. So to make sure you get to our website, visit http://www.wtpflorist.com/.

One of our weekend tasks was to photograph our Valentine inventory of plush stuffed animals. The store is full a wide variety of stuffed animals. Check out the slideshow at the upper right of the screen to see the plush animals we have the most of. It was quite a task trying to photograph these little buggers. They moved around more than a 2 year old! We eventually got the job done though. We definately have lots to choose from with some making noises, some singing songs (even a "I'm Too Sexy" gorilla) and some "wild" monkeys. We will have some up on our shop website soon, so if you are getting ready to order some roses for that special someone this Valentine's Day don't forget to add on an adorable bear.
Off to plan some more!

The Holidays are Finally Over...or are they??

So in a flash, or so it seemed, the Christmas season and New Years has come and gone. Now it is time to relax and enjoy ourselves. Not so fast!!

With February rapidly approaching, so too is the biggest holiday of the year for your local florist. Valentine's day is the single busiest day of the year for us, and with one of our other local florists-Bravo Florist in Sewell having a fire in their building and another local shop Candlelight Florist in Sewell closing its doors, we are going to be quite the busy beavers. Our preparations for the holiday have already begun. We are getting together all of our stuffed animals-which we will have a slide show of here soon- and taking pictures and trying to get more items for our customers to choose from up on the website. We are even considering some bonuses for those who use Abbott Florist this Valentine's Day. Details to follow soon.

It's definitely going to be a busy next month for us.

Every blog should have a picture. Found this one on the web, gave me chuckle!
