In Lieu of Flowers

While there are other options of expressing sympathy such as charitable contributions, there is no substitute for flowers and the important role they play in the funeral process. Flowers not only warm a funeral or memorial service setting but they also have a positive impact on the emotional well being of the bereaved. Flowers can have profound positive effects on our emotions-they are the visual outpouring of love, sympathy and respect. They help up express our support and grief and promote feelings of compassion and happiness. People tend to feel less depressed anxious around flowers.

Sometimes families include a phrase in the obituary that seems to discourage the expression of sympathy through flowers. The phrase "In Lieu of Flowers" is not normally meant to restrict friends and loved ones from sending flowers if they wish, rather it gives other welcomed options of expression. While a monetary donation is a worthy tribute, there is really no substitute for beautiful flowers at a sympathy service. They comfort the living as they commemorate the lives of the deceased.

When making the decision to send flowers or a charitable contribution on lieu of, consider sending both. Abbott Florist has a broad range of arrangements that can accomodate every budget and express the sincerest form of sympathy to the greiving. We work closely with area funeral homes in the Turnersville, Sewell and Washington Twp area and would be honored to help you in a difficult time.

Sympathy Flowers - A Bright Environment at a Somber Time

Studies have shown after family, friends, and eulogy, flowers rank first among those who have lost a family member or friend as the most meaningful aspect of funerals.
Furthermore, at a time of loss, recipients rank flowers and sympathy cards as the most meaningful of gifts. Those surveyed believe flowers and plants are a critical component of funerals, providing a necessary diversion, something to talk about, and a bright environment at a somber time.
Flowers show respect for the deceased, as well as loving support of family and friends, especially when you cannot be there in person. Flowers also make for a more pleasant atmosphere, helping those present feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. With flowers at a service, you help create a lasting and beautiful memory for those who have gathered to mourn the loss of someone dear.
There is a wide variety of floral tributes for every budget. Among them: bud vases; table arrangements; standing arrangements; sprays; casket drapes; wreaths; planters; and other designs which reflect a more personal aspect of the deceased, such as favored flowers, colors, and styles.
Abbott Florist offers a wide variety of sympathy arrangements for any budget. Visit our website for current options or give us a call 856-728-3939 if you are interested in something more personalized.
